Bubble Balls

This week we got to take out some aggression by smashing into each other while wearing giant plastic bubbles. You know, just a typical weekend in our family. Heather has had this event in the works for a couple of weeks now after discovering a business online that rents inflatable bubbles.

Our experience began by taking a trip down to Orem to pick up the deflated bubbles. We searched around Orem for a few minutes to try to find this bubble business before finally learning that it was located in the basement of an insurance company. You know, because you never know when you’ll be renting inflatable stuff for your next company party, when you suddenly decide to see if you can expand your auto coverage. Anyways, the kid who finally got us the bubbles (he couldn’t have been more than 18) seemed way more interested in selling us insurance than renting us balls. Apparently inflatable transportation is just a little side hobby of his. But we finally got out of there with 10 adult bubbles of various colors and a few little kid bubbles as well. After cramming all the bubbles and ourselves into the Elantra, we couldn’t have fit one more thing in there. We had them stacked to the ceiling and the trunk was overflowing. After shoving and shoving, it was off to Badger’s house to test out our new toys.

Once we inflated the bubbles, patched dozens of holes, and cleaned off the mud from the last group to use them, we got our bubble ball on! We spent the afternoon playing bubble ball soccer with Katie, Dave, Alex, Braxton, and Zeke. What started off as soccer in the backyard quickly turned into running head on at someone and trying to knock them over. That eventually evolved into everyone attacking Dave like an army of deranged hamsters in our balls because he was the hardest to take down. Even Mama Badger got in on the action after a while, coming outside to take a few spins of her own. Then knowing Mama Morgan would get a kick out of watching everyone smash into each other, we invited her and Taylor over to participate. Taylor was surprisingly hard to knock down for a skinny fella, but we soon had his legs sticking up in the air. For anyone wondering, it’s incredibly satisfying to bump someone hard enough that it flips them completely upside down. Perhaps the proudest moment of the day came when Heather dared Eric to do a flip in his ball. Here is the glory that resulted…

And another one just for fun :)
